Enjoy an afternoon of intertidal exploration on the sandflats at Centennial Beach, Boundary Bay Regional Park (BBRP) on Friday June 8. The low spring tides (0.9 m) will provide us with two habitats to discover: eelgrass beds and sandflats. We will start a fast walk across the sand flats seaward to the eelgrass beds at the water's edge (estimate 30 minutes). Then, keeping ahead of the incoming tide, we will discover the many organisms that live on or near the surface of the sandflats. The field trip goes rain or shine. Please wear appropriate attire for sun (visor and sun screen), wind or rain. Rubber boots or waterproof booties are required. Bring water and a snack. We will meet beach-side of the concession stand at Centenial Beach, BBRP at 1:30 PM.

DIRECTIONS: Follow Hwy #99 south and onto Hwy #17 towards the BC Ferry Terminal. Exit left (south) at 2nd set of lights to Tsawwassen (56 Street). Turn left (eastward) onto 12th Avenue which turns southward into Boundary Bay Road. Follow the signs to BBRP and Centennial Beach. Park (free) at southern most lot closest to concession stand. Estimate 45 min to 1 hour drive from Vancouver. Contact Sheila Byers  for more information.
