Kathy Heise is a marine mammal scientist working with the Raincoast Conservation Society and with the Vancouver Aquarium. During her career\, her primary research interest has been Pacific white-sided dolphins. Kathy will share her knowledge of these charismatic \;acrobats of the ocean\, as well as discussing her latest concern \;for them - increasing acoustic pollution in their undersea environment.

The highlight of this walk will be a grove of old growth Douglas-fir that survived the logging of the area. Other highlights will be the view point at Grey Rock (Quarry Rock) and a giant old growth Douglas-fir once used as a Bald Eagle nest tree. Meet at 0930 hours for car pooling at Parkgate Mall outside Safeway. We will then proceed to the trail head at the intersection of Indian River Road and Francis Creek where there is limited parking. This workshop will include a lecture and question period in the morning\, a shoot at midday and a critique later in the afternoon. This class is for anyone who still has questions about digital photography. Please bring your camera\, camera instruction book\, notebook and pen\, lunch and snacks. I plan to hike in West Vancouver's Nelson Canyon vicinity on Easter Saturday. \; Bears do frequent the area at this time of year\, but I've heard that\, to avoid the Nelson Canyon crowd\, they're spending the holiday weekend on Mayne Island. Spring birding (on and offshore) and botany on a moderate hike to Mount Parke on Mayne Island. Carpool at 42nd and Oak at 0715 or meet on the
0835 Gulf Islands ferry from Tsawwassen ferry terminal. Walk-on passengers must be at the terminal ten minutes before sailing time.
